why do i need an eye exam?

Routine eye exams are an essential component of maintaining overall health and wellness. Even if you don't wear glasses or contacts, you should still get your eyes checked regularly to ensure they are healthy and functioning correctly. During an eye exam, our optometrists can detect early signs of eye disease, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration, which can be treated more effectively when detected early.

What happens during the exam?

A comprehensive eye exam typically includes several tests and procedures to evaluate the health of your eyes and vision. At Vang Family Optometry, we’ll perform several tests to understand your eye care needs. Our optometrists may also ask you questions about your medical history, lifestyle, and any vision problems or concerns you may have. Based on the results of the exam, our optometrists will recommend treatment options, such as glasses or contacts, or refer you to a specialist for further evaluation or treatment.

how do i prepare for an eye exam?

Here are some tips to help you prepare for your upcoming eye exam:

  1. Bring your current eyeglasses or contact lenses so we may evaluate how well they work for you.

  2. Know your medical history. Inform your optometrist about any health conditions you have, such as diabetes or high blood pressure, as well as any medications you are taking.

  3. Remove your contact lenses. If you wear contact lenses, be sure to remove them before your exam.

  4. Arrive early. Coming before your appointment time will allow you to fill out any necessary paperwork and give you time for any additional tests if needed.

Schedule your comprehensive eye exam online, by phone, or in person.
